Euro Asia Imports Announces Bike Handlebar Recall
by admin
As a Los Angeles personal injury lawyer, I know how important it is to follow safety precautions while sharing the road with a bicycle. These travelers simply do not have the added protection that a car offers, and we should all respect their right to be on the street. Bike riders, for their part, should also take every possible precaution while riding along busy thoroughfares.
One thing that a bicyclist can do to keep safe is pay attention to product recall information. Today, for instance, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, along with Health Canada and Euro Asia Imports, announced a voluntary recall of a certain type of bike handlebar manufactured by Nitto Co Ltd., of Japan. The recall concerns all Nitto aluminum bike handlebars with the model number B259AA. This product can be identified by the words “NITTO” and “B259″ etched on the end of the handlebars.
Apparently, these handlebars pose a risk in that they can break while a rider is on the bike, posing a fall hazard due to the loss of control which ensues. Already two incidents of this nature have occurred, one of which ended in a fall and a cut to the leg of the rider on the bike.
The product was sold through certain bicycle dealers and specialty stores from January 2008 to July 2011 and retailed between $60 and $80. Consumers who discover that they have the product in question are advised to stop usage immediately and get in touch with Euro Asia imports to obtain a free replacement.
With gas prices on the rise, using a bike to go about daily business has become a lot more appealing to a large amount of people. As a personal injury lawyer in Los Angeles, I’ve seen my fair share of commuters pedaling to work as opposed to driving. It’s therefore doubly important that bicycles meet rigorous safety standards so as not to pose an unwarranted danger to their riders.
